At the Mobility Congress on November 6 at Kap Europa (Frankfurt), the OIMD organized two panels. The panel “Shaping sustainable mobility in a human-centered way – challenges and perspectives”, hosted by Jürgen Schultheis (Verkehrskontor FrankfurtRheinMain), was introduced by Julian Schwarze (OIMD) with an impulse lecture, followed by a discussion between architect Nille Juul-Sørensen (Arup), Dr. Inga Schlichting (DB InfraGo) and Prof. Dr. Kai Vöckler (OIMD) discussed the role of design for the acceptance of active and sustainable mobility: For users, the mobility experience is central: Where am I going? Where can I find what? Do I feel safe? Am I appreciated? Can I identify with it? Is it “my” mobility? What role does design play in mediating between the mobility system and people?
The second panel was about the concept of the “mini-train station”: “From the bus stop to the main station – a new understanding of intermodal mobility”. Amélie Ikas (OIMD) presented research results on the design of municipal intermodal mobility systems and on the conversion of stations into multimodal mobility platforms, their testing in virtual reality simulations and the development of future mobility scenarios. The central challenge of intermodal mobility is the design of the transitions and interfaces, both analog and digital: How can offers that are spatially differently positioned be made coherent and comprehensible? This was also discussed by Natalia Echeverri Pinto (unit-design, project regiomove), Sebastian Sooth (DB Mindbox) and Anne Rückschloß (ivm – Gesellschaft für Integriertes Verkehrs- und Mobilitätsmanagement). In the foyer, Emelie Trenkler and Clarissa Kurtz (OIMD) were giving conference participants the opportunity to experience the VR simulation of the “station of the future” for themselves.
