The international trade fair for transport technology InnoTrans started on September 24 and will continue until September 27, 2024. The OIMD is of course also taking part – our colleague Annika Storch is showing a simulation of a future train station at the exhibition stand of the Eisenbahn-Bundesamt (Federal Railway Authority). Annika was already able to welcome a high-ranking visitor: She showed our future scenario to Federal Transport Minister Dr. Volker Wissing and let him immerse himself in the station of the future.
Background: On behalf of the German Center for Rail Transport Research at the Federal Railway Office, we are working together with other partners and under the direction of the Institute for Social-Ecological Research to develop a catalog of measures with recommendations for the further development of the station as the core of multimodal mobility platforms. This catalog is intended to serve as a basis and a concrete decision-making aid for the conception and evaluation of future railway station projects in Germany. The OIMD is responsible for developing design guidelines for the catalog of measures.
In a virtually accessible station, experiences of changing trains are generated and design measures are tested and brought to life.
