Mission

In view of climate change, but also to regain quality of life, it is essential to develop new solutions for environmentally friendly and people-friendly mobility. Our aim is to use research to develop innovative methods and strategies for sustainable mobility design in order to make sustainable mobility a positive experience - more accessible, more efficient, more pleasant and more visible.

Design & Research

In our projects we develop designs and concepts ranging from cycle streets to cargo bikes, from suburban train stations to cable cars, from way finding to waiting situations – always with a view to the mobility system as a whole, to a fluid way of being on the move. We use, for example, virtual reality tests to investigate how design affects the orientation processes and emotions of travelers.

In 2022 we launched the “Offenbacher Schriftenreihe zur Mobilitätsgestaltung” (Offenbach Series on Mobility Design) at Jovis Verlag. In two volumes so far, best practice examples and research on mobility design are presented. In addition, an interactive digital “Mobility Design Guide” supports actors in planning sustainable mobility with inspiration, models and basic research.

Lectures & Exhibitions

In public events, we present our methods and results for discussion. This way we get into contact with users as well as experts from science, architecture, design, transport companies, politics and administration, for example in 2019 at our international conference “re/set Mobility Design – Shaping Future Mobility”.
