Investigation and theoretical grounding of a product language analysis of spaces and processes in mobility systems
Julian Schwarze’s doctoral project investigates the conditions and limits of applying product language analysis to mobility spaces. The theory of product language analyses design objects in terms of their product semantics, which are understood as “communicative signifier”. Product semantics becomes visible through the interaction of users with things. If this interaction space is extended to mobility spaces, users who move or are moved interact in a time-based usage process not only with things, but also with virtual and physical spaces. This raises the question of the applicability of the theory of product language in a new way: Can it, as a theory, form the basis of analysis and the definition and development of design parameters to be derived from it? Where are the limits?
